    Royal Mail Prices 2013

Royal Mail have today announced their new prices for 2013 and take effect on 2nd April 2013, but having read through the letter I receivd in the post this morning and their webiste I am still no clearer what I will be paying from next month.

I currently use Packetpost which uses average weights but I think Royal Mail may be getting rid of this service completely and don't see any new service that uses average weights in it's place.

I am also not clear if the new small parcel (80mm height limit) and medium parcel categories also apply to account customers.
The lowest weight band for packets also appears to have increased from 0-750g to 0-1000g.

Hopefully all will be become a little clearer in the next few days, but I suspect many retailer may see very large increases in postage costs.

Fuel Surcharging is also likely to add to the cost of postage for RM business account customers.

If you log into OBA there's a link near the bottom on 2013 prices that'll take you to the relevant price publications.

The replacement for the Packetpost / CRL services are the Royal Mail 24 / 48 parcel service which works on average weight, the same as the current system.

The new small / medium parcel sizes are purely for the walk-in / individual customers.

I have discussed this with Royal Mail and essentially they say for us the changes are basically a change in name and some price band changes. The service works the same as the existing ones.

That's what I was hoping but nothing on the Royal Mail 24 / 48 parcel service mentioned average weights.

True. That's why I called them up.

Although not mentioned within the Business Contract Services PDF, the new rate does appear within Our Prices 2013 PDF for personal customers.

I don't believe that business customers get any discount on the Recorded Signed-For fee, which as of 2nd April 2013 will be £1.10, up from the current rate of 95p.

I see that the fuel surcharge has been set at 2.5% on all contract parcel services.
