    Gpsr ....

    I realise generally I am a couple of steps behind most who read this forum but earlier in the week I received an email from Ebay advising of changes happening soon (December) if you sell into the EU and or Northern Ireland

    Did a quick search on here “GPSR” and nothing returned, so all the info below.

    Thank you for the heads up on this one, Mark
    I was planning to off-load our residual stocks on Ebay when I close our business and will now need to consider the impact of GPSR!

      Thank you for the heads up... we are even more behind than you...

      The only thing recent was from DPD advising changes to shipments from UK to NI ( the Windsor Framework ) and the subject of "UKIMS" number came up:

        - info extracts copied below:
        Overview
        Effective from 13 December 2024, the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) aims to ensure the sale of safe products to buyers in the European Union (EU) and Northern Ireland (NI). This regulation applies to both new and second-hand products sold in these markets, and it introduces specific requirements for businesses regarding product safety information.
        What you need to know
        To comply with the GPSR, all business sellers listing items for sale in the EU and NI must include the following information:
        1. The product manufacturer's name and contact information
        2. If the manufacturer isn’t located in the EU or NI, you’ll have to indicate an EU-based Responsible Person or entity, along with their name and contact details
        3. Any relevant product information like model number, pictures, type, and CE marking
        4. Product safety and compliance information like safety warnings, labels, and product manuals in the local language

          We are going to remove all EU countries from the website in the coming week.

          Any idea how we remove Northern Ireland as this is just included under United Kingdom?

            We have states/region (list of UK counties) setup, with shipping zones "UK (England)" / "UK (Northern Ireland)" etc, I'll just remove the shipping zone for Northern Ireland (counties for NI won't be available)
            - we don't use/pay for the postcode thing... but I think with that you can set a rule for the NI postcodes?

              To do this would require a form of customs / import declaration for packages delivered to Northern Ireland in which case Northern Ireland would need to be identified as another country like Jersey and Guernsey.
              I checked the Royal Mail app today 14 December 2024 for sending to a BT post code delivery address and there is no change as yet - still United Kingdom, so I do not see the need to make any exceptions at the moment.

                After having to cancel another Northern Ireland order today I decided I had to implement my warning a bit better.

                I now have the text "We are currently unable to ship products to EU Countries, or Northern Ireland due to GPSR." prominently positioned in the shopping cart between the Coupon Code box and checkout button.

                In addition, and better placed, it is also on each of the checkout pages at the top. This is on the sticky top bar on mobiles, so stays put when the user scrolls.

                The fix on my V18 Swift was as follows.

                Added to the style sheet

                .theme-title-gpsr{
                width: 100%;
                padding: 10px 0 10px;
                margin-bottom: 20px;
                font-size: 1.0rem;
                font-weight: 500;
                position: relative;
                text-align: center;
                }

                I then added the following code

                <div class="theme-title-gpsr">We are currently unable to ship products to EU Countries, or Northern Ireland due to GPSR.</div>

                Added to shopping cart under </Actinic:REMOVE>

                Also added to Checkout page 0 go to layout UXHeader(Checkout Pages) Swift and add at the very bottom.

                Have a look on the Titan Jewellery website if you want to see it in use.
                Regards

                  This was setup on ours... still quite useful now and again.
