    EKM email from sellerdeck

Anyone else get the email from sellerdeck regarding EKM cloud based ecommerce?

At a glance looks interesting if they make migration economical, hopefully they would for existing customers to move to their new platform?

Looking directly at the EKM website, through them its very expensive if you have anything but a tiny turnover.

Personally if possible I'd love to stay with sellerdeck but I'm desperately wanting a cloud solution, we'll see....

Well over the years installing sellerdeck desktop has become increasingly troublesome on a new machine, when I started you popped the disc in and 15 mins later you imported the snap and that's it.

Now there are pre requisites and all manner of hickups installing. Even upgrading is now much more challenging especially given the restrictions on payment providers they brought in from 18.22.

Plus a machine failure (happened twice now) results in a nightmare unless you happen to have done a backup literally just before or not had any orders downloaded or made any changes.

The last time it happened I had about 10 orders downloaded not processed, the only way to deal with them was logging in to psp's to find them and so on.

A cloud solution means simply login and you are operational again, I am looking seriously at shopify but will definitely look at sellerdeck / EKM if it's viable.

It does look at first glance very expensive compared to others and suspiciously like its again clear accept only for card payments.

I wonder also if they'll retire desktop at some point.....

I thought the same when the Sellerdeck Sales advised certain problems will never be fixed and I should migrate to EKM or WooCommerce

You should all have a search on EKM reviews... there are at least two review sites... look at the negative comments (of course)... it's interesting.

Let's hope if they do retire desktop they'll help existing customers migrate rather than simply profit from a situation they create.

Yes it seems from the trustpilot reviews their customers are in the same position as us, they only offer clear accept as a payment option.

Sellerdeck Sales guy did mention this today:

Sellerdeck Desktop is currently being developed for the next version release, and no news of it being discontinued has been mentioned (internally to me, or externally to customers). We want to be as agnostic as possible, so now we are able to offer 3 supported Ecommerce solutions (Desktop, EKM & WooCommerce).
I have a feeling that most of us are hanging onto v18.22 (?)

End of the day if Sellerdeck users are costing the parent company money they may well end it, and who could blame them ?

That said, wonder what percentage of the currently active Sellerdeck sites would / could commit to £300 plus VAT a month for the most basic EKM product ?

Does feel with of deletion of PayPal, the surcharge for a cover contract if you don't sign up for ClearAccept that some of us are being gradually kicked into touch.
