Law on Knife and sharp items

Just starting a 5000 item tools site covering everything from Pins to fancy welding equipment

Now my problem does anyone fully know the law on selling Knifes and sharp objects over the web, doing a search there seems many different answers

There are multiple opinions out there.

I state the law and get them to declare their age using the 'other info question'.

Under the Offensive Weapons Act 1996, as amended by the Violent Crimes Act 2006, you must be 18 or over to purchase this item. Please enter your age or date of birth here
I once asked trading standards about this and they seemed happy with it.

Amazon on the other hand just seems to work on the basis of stating you must be over 18 to purchase these kind of items and if you go ahead but aren't old enough then you're breaking the law. (I tried to check this but can't even see anything on amazon about this anymore)

Thanks Mike, I guess fishing is one area where all ages have to have a knife whilst fishing both inland and beach.

It just seems the law once again uses a broad brush to make a law without much thought to the effects on distant sellers who sell knifes and sharp instruments,
