Google Shopping - How well is it working for you??

Apologies if this has been already discussed but couldn't find it in the search.

I have just started doing this. I have uploaded various data feeds and now trying to refine it. It has been running for just over a week now but with very little success compared to Adwords.

I would be interested in feedback from others with this.

    I'm a purchaser (and a seller)

as a seller, whats another word for "con" ??
build your website up, work very hard and get to page 1 position 1 for many products, shopping portal goes live, and hey presto, you've lost your placing.
people that "go thru their portal" seem to get higher natural listings despite the fact that your page says you are cheaper

As a purchaser, has anyone tried finding anything for purchase without actually using their portal !

I run a product search campaign and normal adwords campaign on a site I run and I have to say happy with both. There are various things to learn and certain tips to pick up, but on the whole they have been a very good boost to sales. I expect the sector you work in has a slight impact of course, but overall for me it has been about quality of data in the feed and keeping on top of performance.

Whilst results can vary hugely between sites, sectors etc as a rough guide we have achieved ROI's for adwords of between 100%-400% whereas we have regularly seen ROI's on 1000%+ with Product listing ads (and now more so with the migration to Google Shopping Campaigns).
Note, Google are retiring the *new* product listing ads in favour of Google Shopping Campaigns.

We invariably run campaigns for our clients across adwords, Google Shopping, remarketing and adsense in combination with email marketing, facebook/pinterest/twitter where applicable), SEO and several other channels to maximise exposure and increase the revenue generated through an evermore fragmented market place.

In summary, if you are going to spend money doing it, then spend money and time doing it well to get the best possible returns.

Has anyone ever considered how useful targeted google ads really are.

I recently bought an copy of teamviewer software and since then I am constantly bombarded by adverts on web pages for team viewer software. What is the point, I have already made my purchase so what does all this achieve, my ROI is satisfied and no amount of extra advertising can change that.

Talk about wasted bandwidth, money and resources, consider that this happens to users all over the web is it really worth it.

The retargeting will most likely be because you researched teamviewer before purchasing rather than because you actually bought it. Although it might be just because you visited the site. You have to remember that if only 2% of those who visited the site buy then there's still 98% who are reasonable potential customers. So, yes some of the ads are wasted on existing customers but the vast majority will be well targeted.

              Need correct settings in remarketing

The remarketing campaign needs to be set up properly, so that it only targets people who have visited your site in a date range and did NOT order, not anybody who ordered. This will be fine if the product is unique to you. If the same product is offered elsewhere and was bought elsewhere, then it would not work because your site would not know that. That's how I see it, though I may be wrong.

That was the point, the ads I am seing are the type posted on other sites so how can they know I have bought the product and what is the point of such ads. The whole priniciple of these ad campaigns is that you as the supplier pay for ads on other sites which google selects based on their tracking of the propective customers visits and views.

What is the point of me continuously being bombarded by ads relating to a site I visited and purchased from. Google need to take that into account when tracking customers like myself.

Google can do it but it relies on the advertiser 'tagging' you at the purchase to remove you from the retargeting list. If they didn't do it then there's nothing Google can do about it.
