Dad's becoming quite frail (he is 82 after all) and needs help in the morning to shower and dress,
Mum used to do this duty, but with a recent hip replacement, I've been asked to step in for a while.
so at about 9 o'clock, I pop over to his house to help.
recently mum has recovered from the hip op, and tried helping him for the first time for a couple of months.
the next day, having asked mum "are you up to helping with the shower?", Dad was simply asked "who do you want to help you, mum or me ?"
the response came back "You" so that's why I've still got the job. Anyway, this morning, I plucked up the courage to ask him "why me and not mum?"
His reply surprised me, "You just get on with the job, one or two words and I know it's the left arm, or the chest etc, there's none of this 'have you done your right ear' just a couple of words"
"oh. Just wondered" and went on with the task in hand.
about a minute later, I dropped the soap and off it went across the shower floor
"Bo**ocks" I said quite loudly
and with that he just spread his legs wider and waited. . .
you just can't make it up can you.
