Thinking of using Live chat on our site, does anyone have experience of using it on Sellerdeck and do you think it worthwhile or just a easy way for customers to contact rather than phone

Anyone using live chat for retail web sites

I think LiveChat is great.
I think there are quite a few people in the world (me included) that would rather do anything than have to speak to somebody over the phone, so livechat is great for that.
We installed livechat on our SellerDeck site and it worked very well, really easy just had to add a bit of JavaScript code to bottom of the template.
We use https://www.livezilla.net/home/en/
It is great for customers that are browsing and just want to ask a quick question or clarify something.
Most decent livechat solutions have the option to make nothing show if you are not online.
I would definitely recommend it especially if you've got people who can be on it to answer questions quickly and knowledgably.
