If it's online sales that you're trying to track, are you familiar with the referrer script that comes with SellerDeck? It's documented in the section 'Using The Referrer Perl Script' in the Advanced User Guide. It may be too limited for your purpose, but it might be worth a look if you haven't come across it before.
