Backslash in Product ID causes error message when Search Result followed

If a Product ID contains a backslash followed by more text and you use the website Search to locate that product, you get a Breadcrumb Trail:Product Missing popup error message when you click the search result to go to the product.

Demonstration (tested on 14.0.1):

Standard Demo Site.
Settings / Business Settings / Options / untick Auto Generate Product References.
Change product Diamond Pendant to have Reference: 23\BAD
Update site, browse and search for Diamond.
Click link to Diamond Pendant and error pops up.
