    Actinic Express Wishlist Requests

I know there is a forum for wishlists but as Express is so different to other versions, I thought I might just stick mine here! Some have already been mentioned so this is to sum up . . .

    1. To be able to put products in front of sections on the home page. Would be useful to be able to use the "information only" feature that the products have to put a bit of info at the top of the first page (and probably other pages).

    2. Get rid of the ridiculous US states list in checkout.

    3. To be able to set up more than one UK shipping zone so that we can have UK Mainland and UK Non-mainland rates.

    4. To be able to offer discounts through a voucher code or "free shipping over £75" type of thing.

    5. If the Paypal button has to be above the address details in checkout then can't it at least be accompanied by some text saying that there are other payment options to follow?

    What does everyone else think?

I'll agree with all that, and I'd like to add:

    1. Some basic wysiwyg html formatting capability.

    2. A proper user manual.

      Hi chaps

I've moved these comments to the main Wish List suggestions forum as this is monitored by members of the product management team more than the other forums.

Thanks for the suggestions - they are all very useful.

Ordering Process - Usability Problems - Express

As I have been having problems with uncompleted orders, I asked someone who is (a) intelligent (b)rarely places orders on line, and (c) had never seen my on-line shop before, to place a test order. Here's what happened.

          They successfully entered the site.
They successfully navigated to a product page and selected a product to purchase.
They were then stuck as they couldn't see the "Add to Cart" button which was off the bottom of the screen.
When they saw the "Add to Cart" button they still hesitated as they were far from clear that this would enable them to buy the product.
          Prompting them, they clicked it.
They were then stuck again, as seemingly (a) nothing useful had happened to progress their purchase, and (b) they had no idea what to do next.
Prompting them to find the "Checkout" button they successfully completed placing an order.
On completion they were stuck again; the only on-screen option being "continue Shopping" (" why would I want to do that I've just bought something").

          Could we therefore consider
          (a) The option to change the wording on Add to Cart button, so that it could alternatively read "Buy Now" or something similar.
          (b) An additional "Add to Cart" button at the top of each page.
(c)the option to go straight to checkout on clicking the "Add to Cart"
(d)The option to add some explaination as to what is going to happen next. e.g. "You will now be taken to the Secure Protx form to enter your credit card details"
          (e) An All Finished option on the order confirmation page.

It's so easy to forget that just because we all spend large parts of our lives playing with on-line shops, to many potential customers they present a series of insurmounable hurdles to them actually completing their purchase.

            1.
I think I have said this many months ago but not seen it on any updates on it and that is the ability to change orders. It sounds a simple change but would really be a big step for the better.

There are occasions when someone places an order and I dont have an item in stock so we will confirm with the customer and send a different colour or different product (sometimes also less / more expensive). So the ability to change an order would be a very very useful to have this for me personally. It also means when I actually dispatch the goods I have to turn off the e-mail options so they dont get an e-mail of something they will not be getting ! Also I then have to do a manual invoice and the whole process takes ages !!

Would definetly like to see this changed sooner than later !

Any ideas moderators if this is likely to happen and when ???

            2. I would also like to be able to put an XML sitemap on my website so I can then submit it to Google to hopefully improve my web rankings

I'd second both of those, Brad!

So far I have sent invoices that have needed to be changed with lots of my scribbles all over them. Not very professional looking!

                More Requests

                1. I mentioned earlier that I found the American term "Cart" gives some people a problem (i.e. they have no idea what it means) and it would be nice if we had the option to substitute an alternative term. (Why do I get the feeling this package was designed for the American market?). Whatever the term used it would be useful if the software was consistant; after "Adding to Cart" and "Viewing Cart" you get to the checkout to see your "Shopping basket".

                2. I'd also like the option to remove all references to "creating an account" and "Logging In" throughout the site. The implication that you might have to create an account could put some people off completing the transaction.

Yes, both of those would be good Jeff.
"Shopping basket" would be much better.
I would very happily turn off all account creation options if I could.

Also, to follow on from Brad's No1, it would be great to be able to customise the customer's invoice with the following:

An email address so that the customer can quickly see how to contact about any problems - and this might not be that same as the email address in the Company Information section.

A Notes section of some kind to appear at the botom of the invoice (or some people may find it useful to have at the top). We need to add brief care instructions and this would be a really useful way of doing it.

Thanks for taking the time to make these suggestions. I have passed them all on to the Express Development team for consideration.

                      And . . .

It would be great to be able to customise the Delivery Confirmation email a little.
Firstly we need to tell customers their tracking number and the website address where they can log in and track their parcel.
Also, as mentioned above, if an item is out of stock and we send an email to say that their order has been dispatched, we need to be able to tell them exactly what has been dispatched as it might not be their whole order.

Also, I think the term "delivery confirmation" is possibly confusing. "Delivery" implies that they should have received it by now. Would it be better to change it to "Your order has been dispatched"???

I think Express is brilliant and love how easy and simple it is. I am sure Actinic do not want to over-complicate it but I think these things can be added without detracting from the basic working of the site.

                        Also . . .

As mentioned on the Express board, is there any way that shipping charges can be added to the shopping basket before customers have to go through the process of typing in their address? This may reduce the number of abandoned carts.

I would like to see the section where is says " how did you find out about us" put somewhere on the order confirmation e-mail. This is because I have tried some new adbertising and want to see how successfull it is and dont want to have to go into the edit screen of each order to find this out.

This should be fairly easy to do.

Can you confirm if it can be done on the next updaye and when the next update is ??

p.s. Also it would be nice to be able to change the shipping weight when you have different attributes.

                            For example:

I sell baseballs and sell them either in single quantities or by the dozen under the same item by having 1 attribute. I basically sell a dozen of balls for the price of 10 as a discount. If I sell 1 ball then this at the moment uses the same weight as 1 dozen ! Each ball weighs 300 grams but if you choose say 3 balls then this multiplies to 900 grams and changes the shipping charges accordingly to my weights I have set in the system but with choosing the 1 dozen option it also works on 300 grams (and not 12 x 300grams). Therefore I am loosing out greatly when people buy the dozen as it costs me £7 - £8 deivery and the website is only charging £2.50 which is the fee for 1 ball !

I hope this can be resolved very soon too.

                            I await your replies.

                              Hi Brad

Thanks very much for those wish list requests, I have passed them on to the development team.

These won't make the next maintenance release I'm afraid (but you can do both of them in Actinic Catalog if that's any help).

Not sure when a new release of Express is going to be made available - the developers are working hard on some enhancements at the moment - which we'll let you know as soon as a release is imminent.
