    Checkout Progress Indicator

    This will allow shoppers to know exactly what is expected of them and how long the checkout process will take. Most shops have this as standard now.

    Hi Malcolm

    Thanks for this

    If you did want to add your own, it's really simple. You can add the code for all four progress indications into whatever outer/overall layout you are using for your checkout pages and then hide/show them with conditions.

    Highlight a progress indicator, click the 'Insert Block' button and then use a condition of the following format...

    <actinic:variable name="PageType" /> == "Checkout Page 0"
    or
    <actinic:variable name="PageType" /> == "Checkout Page 1"
    etc.

      I use a "sliding" graphic in v7 to show the progress throught the act_ordern templates

        I know it can be done quite easily and I do do it for the sites that ask me too but it would be nice to have as standard for the shop in a box type person who just want the shop to work as best possible without having to get into the guts of Actinic.

          Aye - it would be nice under v8 to have this as a layout to be inserted (or there by default and deleted if not required) .. the chackout procedure has always been a bit cack-handed under Actinic and this would be most useful

            Its the one area that does not seem to have been improved on in V8 while it is one of the most vital bits to get right. Any small improvements will go a big way to increasing sales.

              This would be a nice standard feature for sure, but surely the number of screens and clicks a user is forced to do is as important, if not more. I personally find the number of screens you are forced to go through really bad. These areas are so critical.

                Agreed but if the customer knows up front then it helps. Ive never had any complaints about the number of screens and I think Actinic is not bad when you compare it to some others out there.

                  I'd agree you will rarely hear complaints, people will either soldier on or bugger off i guess. When i use it for testing orders etc. it just stinks of laborious to me.

                  I reckon it is is right on the limit of just about acceptable, most will continue but some will certainly leave. I have also seen some scandalous ones, especially ones where they crash at last stage and you have to start again.

                    Ther must be ways in V8 of cutting out bits you dont need - not had time to look yet

                      lee - why not start another wish list thread to ask for a revision of the checkout??

                        I guess i was looking at it from the angle that this wish list item is checkout related and if each separate checkout related item has its own thread, it could be somewhat diluted. If there is a thread such as this one with 5 or maybe even 10 little things that would be good to change on the checkout, it may add more weight and keep all suggestions checkout related together. It would therefore be easy to see what's been suggested (checkout wise) and more importantly, easy for Actinic to assess what it's users are thinking on a particular subject.

                        Apologies for the hijack.

                              Please add my name to the wish list list for this feature. It would be great if this was installed in the software instead of having to add it manually.

                              Having said that my appreciation goes out to Brian from Sure Solutions for generously providing the check out progress trail for my upcoming site.

                              This is one of the great positives that Actinic has going for it - a very positive and helpful community of people. Thanks again
