Get Rid of the Advanced User Guide

    What are you stupid?
Yes I'm a right plonker but please start another thread on that one

Could Actinic not add all of the features of the AUG to each software upgrade so that they are optional features within the software.
Then they could dump the AUG, update the standard user guide and start a new AUG.
That way we can have features like Google analytics or hide certain items in the sidebar built in so we only need to tick a box if we want to use it.
Also would make upgrades easier as we no longer need to remember all the changes and modifications we've made.
Also better for Actinic as they can advertise the software with the new features built in.
    Anyone Agree?

The AUG is a great bedside read!

Quite a lot of the stuff makes it into releases (check out the v7 AUG and see what made it into the v8 program) but some can not due to the complexity required to install and often this would make for a very tricky single button option inside Actinic.

I do think the AUG should be done on a page per item basis or at least available as a "patch" download so new pages and an updated index can be downloaded and printed as required without having to reprint the whole AUG as it is updated.

As jont says V7 had an AUG and many of the things from that went into V8 so much of the current V8 AUG may go into V9. I think its a good way to do it as many of the AUG patches are devised by people on the forum so by putting them in the AUG gives them a chance to be tested and any bugs reported so that when they do make it to be built in then there is less chance of a bug getting in there too.

I do agree though that it is a pain when when an upgrade happens and it wipes out your mods but thats the way it goes.

Off topic, but as Actinic advances with more and more options and becomes more complex in a few places its maybe time for the book range to expand, even via third party.

Lol Jonty, it takes some bloody time i tell ya, i've only done 3 and i have screenshots to do for them yet. If it ever took off then i guess videos could be a good idea, but you are into the realms of paying for info then, which most will not do.

The more you have, the more you have to change when actinic change things too. I guess as i grow the section i can see how often it is used and whether it's worth it.

Paid for home-made videos shot at 3.00am! I think the Actinic agreement forbids such nefarious activities

Depends on the situation ... sometimes a lighter tome is all that is required
