    Single page for products duplicates

    Hi

Could Actinic please develop an automatic creation of a single page duplicate product system to run alongside the normal tabulated product layouts most of us (and customers) want. If a customer wants to buy a toaster he/she wants to see all the available toasters, but google is basically not listing multi-product pages. My page rank is still 3/4 depending on page on all except for the multiproduct pages were it is zero.
I am aware of the two systems for going through and redesigning the site, but this would would be a huge help to us ( non developers) to have some system for automatically creating single product page duplicates with links set up.

    Regards

    Nigel

If you're on v8, you can use the full page extended info with add to cart. Jan's Froogle Mash/Feed will create a link directly to this - et voila - single product per page.

True that's one way, but I'm not too sure how good that is for SEO.
Do the extended info pages appear in the sitemap and get indexed?
And is it OK to land on an extended info page?

I am using this method currently - using this method you are best of usining different variables for the meta keywords and descriptions on the extended info pages to those on the section pages otherwise you will have multiple pages with same meta information which could cause duplicate content issues. eg I currenlty have the meta description on ext info page as the product description and the meta keywords is the product short desciptions - you could also create user defined variables to populate the meta details on these pages.

Do the extended info pages appear in the sitemap and get indexed?
My extended info pages get indexed (my extended info pages are set to open in the same window and have meta details included on the pages - not sure if this is still the case if you have the ext info pages set to open in a new window or popup.)

i dont think you can get ext info pages included in the sitemap although my ext info pages appear to be getting indexed fine.

And is it OK to land on an extended info page?
I suppose this depends on whether you have included navigation on your extended info pages, without this users will find the page but not be able to navigate anywhere else around the site. I have set the lookout of my ext info pages to replicate the rest of the site.

          Thanks for the reply

Thank you for the comments I will give it a go. But to me it would be simpler and less of a work around and allow anyone who comes direct to that page to navigate the rest of the site if it was a standard intergrated layout option.

Agreed that would make it easier - you can edit the extended info page layout to repicate the rest of your site including navigation etc.

I think we have done all or most of this in 8.5.1 without it being a "workaround".

Firstly we use the normal section / product hierarchy but the final product section has smaller cut down layouts of each product with an image, max 25 words, price, Buy Now and More buttons. The more button and image will take you to an ext info page that opens in the same window.

Using a single product extended info page for which the design outer was the Catalog page all of the menu / marketing info is the same (or not if we don't want it to be & I suppose we could have multiple ext info layouts if we wanted). The single page also has the trail to take you back to the parent section page(s). Page title and meta content are seperate variables.

We then populate (and maintain occasionally as and when) the variables using a spread sheet query on Actinic. Then, using the same spread sheet, changing the ext info page title to use a concatenation of the part # (we use the manufacturers part # some of which are known and used by shoppers) the product name and the meta content to use short description. The file ext info name also uses the brand and part #.

Finally we use XML-Sitemap as a weekly cron job on the server (it also produces .txt, html, yahoo etc. and pings Google). The link to the file is in robots.txt but is also set up in Google webmaster tools and gets resubmited regularly.

              The result is www.ukweathershop.co.uk.
