On the plus side (and assuming he lets me leave him!) I'll be able to spend an (optimistic) hour at home on the PC where I can check my pages on a small screen res as changing it on my laptop to check 1024 is clearly not displaying as it is really seen online.

ok...and in addition to the "one post every 60 seconds" rule which sucks... the "no more than 2 smilies per post" rule comes a close second!!
some of us like to emote more than twice per post
Especially those of us who write lengthy babble
(or maybe that's just me.... *insert eyeroll which I can't emote* )Tracey

That's a new one on me.
But I've edited the settings
There is also now only a 20 second rule between posts. This rule is just to stop automated spammers taking down the forum with a huge flood of posts.

At least I'm not as bad as that mobile phone spammer who posted on nearly every forum a couple of nights ago!
Determined little beggar he was!
And look...I can even post without emoticons altogether...
*resists the urge to add tongue-sticky-outtie smilie*Tracey

Chris
Set the forum admin so that you authorise new member accounts rather than it being automated
Spammers took my forum of the radar with their porn and filth ads

Even genuine non forum members, can still search the forums and may be able to get their answers there until their user accounts are approved.
It just makes more work for admin though, doesn't it?Tracey

Yeah, this is true, it depends upon how many new members register per day, however, what I found was that even with Admin authorising newbies, anyone can still register an account but obviously not post anything
What Chris or whoever would end up doing is when a newbie registers, is look up the user name and click on Activate or Delete
(I'm sure he knows this anyway)
There are lots or cool .PHP files that could be added to this forum to make it easier to control etc if Spam is a problem
