    Integration of offline payment providers

Any chance of getting any of the offline payment service providers integrated into Actinic.

http://www.payoffline.com supported by Alliance & leicester
    or
    http://www.goandpay.com

Customers can purchase on-line then go and pay offline by cash etc at their nearest payment point (usually local shops etc)

    Advantages to us merchants:
Accept cash or debit card payments for goods ordered on your website
Expand your customer base and brand to include an audience previously unwilling or unable to participate in online transactions
Give your customers more choice and enhance their online experience
Works hand-in-hand with existing payment methods

    Advantages to customers:
Pay with cash or debit card for goods and services ordered online
Shop online even if you don’t have a bank account, credit or debit card
Peace of mind - shop online without giving any bank, credit or debit card details over the Internet - no chance of credit card fraud
Ease of payment – pay at over 24,000 participating outlets

1 Buy the integration kit (is it £1000 or £1500?)
2 Write the secure interface to the offline provider's system
3 Encode your interface in perl and use the integration kit to tailor it to fit Actinic.

4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each other provider.

      Any chance?
Somewhere between slim and none at all.

If actinic did this there would be so many people shouting at them about other priorities they'd probably curl up into a ball and have a mental breakdown.

Seems a bit of a backward step to me - I can't see people using cash instead of plastic. I don't think you can even have a bank account at all now without a card. Sure it might make a very small minority feel more secure about internet purchases, but I think that number is diminishing.

As a customer it would be a pain to have to go and find a place to pay and as a merchant you wouldn't know when you were going to get paid. How would refunds work etc etc.
Sounds like high street versions of Paypal to me.

Wonder what the drop out rate is from completion of order to actual payment? Introducing another step (or a walk to the nearest participating shop) into the process has to be a poor idea IMHO.

              Hi there,

Just to let you know that PayOffline has already integrated with the latest version of Actinic, it should be available in their next software release.

If you have any other questions about our service please do not hesitate to ask.

              Kind Regards,
              PayOffline

Thanks for the feedback Sashi it could be an interesting fallback option.

I presume all payments from Payoffline will go into Actinic's payment pending and then we would have to check regularly to see if the payment has been received via the Payoffline website.

Is that how you see it working Sashi?

The order status would be "PSP Payment Pending" however, you wouldnt have to continually check the PayOffline system as we would email you a payment notification. In fact, we will also email you if the payment has expired (you can set a payment expiry period for your PayOffline transactions in the PayOffline admin centre).

We do support callback functionality however, it will not work with the Actinic system. The session files created by the Actinic system for each order can be cleaned up from the merchants web server before the PayOffline callback occurs (potentially days later).

Unfortunately Actinic were too busy working on the next release and didnt have the time or resources to get a fix in to get the callback functionality working. Hopefully in the not too distant future we will have callbacks working with the Actinic software.

                  Kind Regards,
                  Sashi

In response to some of the questions raised about PayOffline...

"I can't see people using cash instead of plastic"

One of the demographics that PayOffline is aimed at is those without plastic (around 5 million people). They are already making over the counter cash payments for their gas, electricty and phone bills. PayOffline would enable them to pay for their online shopping in the same way.

"As a customer it would be a pain to have to go and find a place to pay..."

There is an outlet search page provided by payzone (linked from the invoice page), the customer simply has to enter their postcode and it will return the address of the nearest payment outlet as well as opening times and a map. Many payment outlets are open late or even open 24/7. We are currently working on a solution that will automatically show the nearest payment outlet to the customers delivery address.

"...and as a merchant you wouldn't know when you were going to get paid"

no you wouldn't but you could set an expiry period for the transaction as well as payment reminder period, so for example...

you could set the transaction expiry as 5 days

and set a notification period of 2 days.

2 days before the payment expiry, if payment has not been received, you are sent a payment reminder notification email. If you have captured the customers email you could send them a payment reminder email.

If payment is not received within 5 days you are sent an expiry notification email. These notifications can also be sent as callbacks (just not to the Actinic system, yet).

                    Kind Regards,
                    Sashi

                            Payoff line and V7

Does any one have this PSP working in V7 yet?
Would be great to have a patch so it works in V7 as well as V8.
The do have call back sorted now and look ready to go, just need to get a patch for V7 sorted.

Sorry Peter - there is no integration for PayOffline for v7. If you would like this Payment Service, you need to consider an upgrade.
