    Paypal/Google options before entering details.

    Hi,

To minimise cart drop-out rates, a customer should be given Google Checkout, Paypal or standard checkout options before they have entered any personal data (with passwords saved this could mean a checkout and payment in 3 clicks, with no laborious entering of data).

On purchasing via Google/Paypal the data is sent to Actinic via the API.

    And everybody is happy.

If you say this can't be done then you're not trying hard enough!

    and your point is?

no one said it can't be done. The points are that
    a) Paypal don't pass address details back to Actinic so we wouldn't get any customer details and
    b) Google Checkout isn't integrated with Actinic

    What point am I missing?

Bizarre post! (sorry, beer is making me "tell it like it is"!!)

the site you linked to isn't an Actinic site. We all KNOW other sites have different integration methods (and some include GC)

              Let me try again...

              Hi,

              Thank you for your replies.

I thought that the purpose of this thread was to suggest features to be considred for future versions of Actinic that would improve Actinic, based on our knowledge, views, experiences and observations as web-store owners. Sorry if this is not the case.

The main point I was trying to make was that streamlining the checkout process will lead to fewer drop-outs and more sales.

By offering Google/Paypal account holders the option not to have to fill out their address details they would then be more likely to complete the transaction.

(For example I prefer using Paypal as I hate entering my card details).

This streamlining of the checkout process was reiterated in several seminars at the e-commerce expo at Olympia as a way of reducing drop-out rates.

For your information Google and Paypal do allow shipping details to be sent to a merchants store after payment has been made.(https://www.paypal.com/IntegrationCe...eference.html).

To summarise: why should we expect customers to expend more time, effort and energy to buy our products than they have to?

              To compare-

              Wishlist suggestion.
3 clicks and one password to complete transaction. (for Google/Paypal)

              Current process.
Several clicks, inputting name, address, telephone number, email address, credit card details. (even for Google/Paypal holders).

              Hope this helps a bit.

              Cheers

              Nick

              PS
Yes, I have read the multitude of postings on GC and know that Actinic will not implement this on v7 or v8. (I find this frustrating and somewhat short-sighted).

However, for v9 starting with a relatively fresh design specification, surely it can't be that difficult to implement GC for a full-time design team and a company with over 10 years experience.

The link to the channeladvisor site was to illustrate that this is already being done on some stores.

the reason we are all amazed at your post is that what you are asking for is already on the wish list and was the subject of possibly the longest thread ever on the forum earlier this year. If you had searched you would have found all the same comments you have made posted there and viewed by thousands of members.

I assume you have added your vote on the GC wish thread - there are not that many members that want it if you have a look

Nobody will disagree that the checkout needs revamping and simplifying but it must work with all current PSPs, not only GC and PP.

But no mention was made of Paypal

                    Hi,

I think the mention of GC has obsured the basic concept I am proposing which is to make the checkout as quick and easy as it can possibly be in v9.0

                    Kind regards

Read the wish list - the checkout redesign as Duncan says is already on the list. there are several posts by Chris (Actinic) agreeing that the whole checkout area needs work.
