Shipping Costs by Date

We need to enter shipping costs by date. Monday to Friday we have free delivery. Saturday has a surcharge and we don't deliver on Sundays, although I am sure some businesses would.

Currently I have to enter the dates as a shiping class and limit the timed deliveries down to one option because of this. I also have to keep updating the dates as we go through the week.

Shipping Costs by date would be a really useful option as I am sure all florists out there would agree. How Actinic handles shipping at the moment only seems to allow for next day delivery. Not much use if their birthday or aniversary is in a week or they need something when they get back from holiday!

When I was looking at displaying dates I did some reseaarchinto java and there are a number of options where you can use a javascript to display a calendar for customers to choose the date they want delivery. I quick search on google will give you some ideas and suggestions at code that you can then play with.

Hi Marc

As Donna says, there are tools out there for selecting dates - the trick is then to pass the date as a 'shipping option' to the Actinic cart - which would be tricky, but not impossible.

I've passed this suggestion on to the developers anyway.
