    Duplicates.

It would be a big help if there was more choice in the product duplicates settings specifically I need to have Duplicates of a particular item for a series of Model a type of appliance. The thing is I need to be able to have editable text on the extended info pages, but keep the pictures on each extended info page the same. At present I can only do this by editing each extended info pages image link individually- with sometimes 20-30 of them this is very time consuming.
I appreciate that this is due to the database structure, but is it possible to change this in next version of Actinic?

Steve, I'm having trouble understanding what you're trying to do.

Duplicates are for showing the same thing in different places.

If you have a series of models, does each one not have it's own product ID and wouldn't you then be better off copying and pasting a new product for each one?

      Duplicates

      Hi Mike.
This is indeed what I'm doing.
What I am doing is for example: glass turntable for microwave oven, one tray 250mm diameter will fit maybe 20 models- obviously I want the same pictures in each item shown but a different model number in the description such as Glass tray to fit Sanyo EM2222 microwave oven. We have the glass tray listed once in a hidden master list, and the duplicates appear for each model number that it fits.
Sorry if I'm not explaining this very well, it's a complicated idea to get across.

        Hi Steve,

I'm not sure I understand the problem here either. If you copy a product that has an extended info page with an image in it and paste it as a duplicate the image stays the same (even if it is editable in duplicate). I don't know why you have to edit the image link. Have I misunderstood?

          Duplicates

Ok Tracey, I didn't explain very well, it's when I update a picture in the original product's extended info page. At the moment I can edit both product and text or have both linked to the original product, but I can't keep the image link fixed and edit the text. I'm having real difficulty explaining this one, I hope I have got over my meaning this time.

I get it now. I don't know why all of the extended info fields are linked so they all are editable or not but I'll add this to the wish-list for you.

              Thanks

              Thanks Tracey.
It will be great if they can. Sorry if I was being a bit obscure in my explanation. I was having a baaaad day when I wrote the original post.
Thanks for sticking with that one.
