    Shipping charges by section

OK i did a search and could not really find anything on this.

I have products on a site that are shipped directly from manufacturer and they have one delivery charge for the order. It does not matter if the customer orders 3 of a different size.

    Right my problem is

I would like to be able to assign a delivery charge to a section, even better a group of products so it gets one delivery charge. This charge must be added to the order and not replaced by the standard delivery charges for the other products on the site.

    My options are

    1) Create a product and use components to set up all the variations and then set the product to exclude delivery and add a shipping supplement and tick the only apply once per order.

    2) Assign the products to a group and add a surcharge obviously once per order. But last time i checked products could on be added to one group.

Assigning a shipping charge to a section would be the easiest way to do this but this is not to be.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Ship by category and apply the category to all applicable products?

OK i already use shipping by catagory, as this is how all the products are set up. Basically we charge by length of item and area it is being shipped to.

so a 5M long length will be £29.95 to england and wales, and £44.95 to scotland. The amount you buy does not matter its a flat charge. so items that are smaller cost less, but it always takes the highest charge, so if you brought 30 tubes of silicon it would not charge you the £7.95 carrier option, it would still charge the £29.95 as this is the longest length in your basket.

so adding these special products would also do this if i put them in there own catagory or have i miss understood what you mean. (probably)

I'm a bit confused Taddy, as i read it you said that there was a standard charge, yet you now talk about differing charges. Can you set up zones for each country and then charge by category in each of them?

G its our own transport, cant trust couriers with this sort of stuff, besides, 20 lengths of fascia costs more than £30 on a courier to scotland
