Editing selected sections and products

Recently I needed to change the section layouts of a large number of sections.

It was necessary to manually edit the layout of each section. No, I couldn't use the parent's default layout because not all sections required the same layout.

As it is possible to select a number of sections, I assumed that if I did this and changed the section layout it would apply to all highlighted sections.

Unfortunately not!

I would expect to be able to select a number of sections and be able to globally edit those sections.

Many software tools do offer such a facility and it can be a real time saver.

Surely you could create a new layout for the first section, give it a new name and then apply that layout to any other section that needed to use it by means of the layout tab->site->overall page layout? I know that is not quite what you are looking for but it is a lot quicker than changing each section.

The layout of all sections were not the same so an overall default layout will not work for all sections.
