    Site Errors

Sorry about filling the forum with suggestions tonight - I have just completed a massive global editing task which has taken days (and shouldn't have done) and thought I would share my suggestions whilst they were fresh in my mind.

I have spent hours trying to track down the source of about 50 errors generated as a result of restructuring my site.

When performing a snapshot or uploading the site (containing errors), eventually the procedure croaks because of errors. The error messages are partially helpful but do not list the source of the error. The information would be available to the error parser and could be displayed in the error listing.

Most commercial IDEs provide such a facility including the ability to link to the relevant source file.

You can check for coding errors in the design tab and then click on the errors that are listed to be taken to the place they occur - is this the sort of thing you need or is it something else?

I think people were asking for it to be shown at the point of upload failure which as jan says is shown in the design tab anyway.

It would save time if the dialogue box containing the errors also contained the source of the error.

The errors I am referring to are not the result of design changes but changes to the folder in which image files were stored.

You should not really be moving images about full stop as it causes all sorts of problems. Also when the upload stops you can press more and it will tell you all the images and file paths that are causeing problems. So what you wish for is already there

I had to restructure the storage of some images due to expansion of the site and to keep a coherent structure.

When the upload stops, you are right a list of the images and their paths are displayed but the key information, namely, the source file where the paths are defined is not displayed.
