This would save the need for hidden products.
Presently to accurately record stock you need to create the permutation, create the hidden product, link the permutation to the hidden product, then assign a stock amount to it. I might be missing something here or just being plain dumb, but surely wouldn't it be much easier to have another column on the permuations tab to enter a stock value?
I've given up on managing stock this way and now run my stock list manually on excel using the packing lists. But my site doesn't have thousands of products lines like others, so I can do that. Users with large Product lists and lots of permutations, must find setting up hidden products for stock a nightmate.
