something i do every upgrade and am sure many others do aswell is to reconfigure the contact us form.

For me it does not have enough fields mainly because we use it for a catalogue request form. I have comtemplated removing it totally from the site and actually using a custom form so the changes to the mailform file never need to be reapplied. Now although i could probably do this without to much trouble i felt it would be better to have the current form modified.

my suggestion would be to have more fields that are selectable, simple tick box in the setup much like the other settings under Design|Text area then you could customise these as you need, if you need more then turn them on.

In addtion to this some form of captcha built in would also be an advantage.

Have to admit i always use my own formmail script, mainly to incorporate captcha, but since the inbuilt one doesn't contain the usual address and other contact detail you might just as well use your own.

Hi, have just sent you a support ticket as our contact us form has stopped, er, letting people contact us, but would be interested in your script as we are also looking for Captcha.

Are there any specific additional fields that are widely needed? Or maybe just a few user-defined fields like the one in the checkout? If so, what types of data?

How many do you think would be needed? Providing a fixed number is probably easier than unlimited.

For me its the address and phone numbers, this is what i have http://www.casupply.co.uk/cgi-bin/mf...CTION=SHOWFORM and i use this template on all sites.

For me it covers everything i need, i have added the option to have drop down selection and the way i did this has been entered into the KB but if its going to be something intergrated then im guessing the option to select which fields are shown would be a nice idea

And dont forget captcha, i get emails all week from robot contact us form submissions. I dont see the point of these but i guess theres a reason they send them?
