CART_ITEMS in cookie

I would like to suggest having the option to store CART_ITEMS ie (stock id, quantity and price) in the cookie? as well as the current CART_TOTAL & CART_COUNT
I am aware of Graham Bradley fullCartSummary which I currently use but would like to have some form of control over the content of the cookie so it can be used in php functions online.
any thoughts?
