    UI Change

I would like the whole UI changed so that I can see properties of whatever is being looked at in a left hand pane with what is now in tabs listed under each other into groups - somewhat like how the properties are grouped in Excel's VB design page. These modal windows are a real pain.

Similarly with the product/section/business settings/ site options etc - I would like to see them in a dedicated pane on the left side with the tab contents all listed and grouped under each other.

The recent changes to the business settings layout into a list of options on the left and details on the right are getting closer to this but still a long way off.

    See attached for the principle.

That's an interesting idea, but would involve an awful lot of vertical scrolling IWHT.

I just did a quick count and products have about 70 properties. That's without any UDPs, and not including any of the grids eg the marketing lists. How do you envisage the latter being handled?

You could go 2 tabbed approach if the numbers were of concern.

The 'groups' could be expanded (+) or minimised (-) as in the attachment. Groups could be per the form frames if there's still too many to list perhaps.

          Bruce,

Best concept I have seen & use is the products tab of Sage Line 50.

You put in a search criteria to limit the list of products displayed. Default will display only a handful of popular properties. However, you can open the properties tab & click what properties you want visible/hidden. To update, simply highlight, one, all or just a few of the products, open batch update & all the property fields will be displayed. Change one or more properties & execute it.
For UDP's, suggest creating a similar properties tab but UDP field names obtained from the Database.

Have a look at Sage Line 50, I found it very simple & extremely easy to use. Simplified product changing is long overdue in Actinic.

          Hope the above helps

The day to day usability needs a severe kicking - adding products and moving between fields is a royal pain and makes inputting arduous at the best of times.

nileshpa, imho this type of interface is very very good. Here are 2 examples for everybody else to have a look at.

(there was 2 but one of them was blocked)

Gabs - the second link didn't work and as a result it was redirecting to the other site homepage.

the second link didn't work because part of the url was censored, and i didn't realize.
