Business Pluss - 1 Admin login

After upgrading our client to Business Pluss we are continously frustrated about the amount of things that you need to be logged in as an Administrator to complete. And as you can only have one admin logged in at a time it is really difficult to do what you would have expected business pluss to allow you to do.

You need to be logged in as Admin to:

    - Drag and drop products
    - View the design tab
    - Upload the site

I really feel that Business Pluss should be giving us more freedom to work as a team rather than constantly hounding others to log out so we can have the admin account.

I don't know what the restrictions are programatically. I can tell you that Business Pluss in a small business (where most people are trusted to do more that just process orders or just edit products) is not as great as we thought it might be.

Please can we see a little more flexibility with user accounts so that they can have more power without having to keep logging out and back in again.

The drag and drop can only be done anyway when nobody else is on the site.

I myself feel that most companies would prefer just one person to be involved in design and uploading at any time. How would you know who was doing what mods if two or more people were working in design mode at the same time as I dont beleive you are locked out like in the database in design mode (may be wrong)

You can have as many Admin accounts as you like but only one in use at a time so if the person doing design or update is not there, others could log in a admin

Sorry you find those limitations frustrating, Alex. Really they are rooted in the MS Access database, which is fundamentally a single-user product. It doesn't provide any record locking to prevent two users writing different things to the same record, which would lead to data corruption. So we have to provide our own locking, which is performed by the Actinic sync server.

We have tried to make this as fail-safe as possible and prevent any kind of data corruption at all costs, and this is the main reason for the restrictions.

That said we are continually developing our products, and there may be safe ways in which we can open this up and provide greater flexibility in the future.
