Product Reference in Search Results

I can't seem to find an easy way to make it possible to allow you to search by product reference without altering layouts.

I display the products references on our site and it amazes me it is not possible to search for a product by product reference.

Can't you make this a searchable option actinic please..?

You can, but there are some limitations. The search matches from the beginning of the reference so you can search for CLE but not what follows it because of the space in the reference. If you change your product references to have an underscore instead of a space you can then search for the whole product reference. Or better still remove the leading few characters before the space altogether and perhaps add them as a suffix instead.

Thanks for making me aware of this. I'll have to look into altering the system I use to generate product references at some point.
