    Setting up goal tracking in GA4.

    1. From your Google Analytics Home, select ‘Explore’ in the left sidebar menu:

    2. Click ‘Funnel exploration’.
    3. In the left sidebar click the pencil icon against ‘STEPS’.
    4. Remove the first Step, which is normally ‘First open/visit’:

    5. For Step 1:
    a. Change the name to ‘Add to Cart’.
    b. Click the arrowhead icon to pop down the menu.
    c. In the menu scroll down and select ‘Page / screen’ and the ‘Page location’:

    d. Click ‘ADD FILTER’ and enter the name of your cart page. You can find this by clicking ‘View cart’ in your web page and looking in the browser address bar. This will be something like ca000001.pl, with a numeric value based on the script ID in your Network Setup.
    e. Click ‘Apply’.

    6. For Step 2:
    a. Change the name to ‘Begin Checkout’.
    b. Mouseover the option, normally ‘screen_view’, and click the (x) icon to delete it.
    c. Click the second option, normally ‘page_view’.
    d. In the popup menu scroll down and select ‘Page / screen’ and the ‘Page location’.
    e. Click ‘ADD FILTER’ and enter your check start link. You can find this by clicking ‘Checkout’ in your web page and looking in the browser address bar. This will be something like os000001.pl?ACTION=Start, with a numeric value based on the script ID in your Network Setup.
    f. Click ‘Apply’.

    7. For Step 3:
    a. Mouseover the first option and click the (x) icon to delete it.
    b. Click the second option, ‘page_view’.
    c. In the popup menu scroll down and select ‘Page / screen’ and the ‘Page location’.
    d. Click ‘ADD FILTER’ and enter the receipt page name, ‘receipt.html’.
    e. Click ‘Apply’.


    8. Click the blue ‘Apply’ button to apply all your changes
    9. Return to the ‘Explorations’ page and rename the funnel to ‘Purchase’:
