The test below can be used to test if a customer pole display is working or not. (Note: this will only work on Windows XP)
If the message does not appear, you may have selected the wrong COM port or bits per second.
- On your PC, go to Start | Programs | Accessories | Communications | Click on “Hyper terminal”.
- Hyper Terminal will now start. In the “Name” field, enter a name, for example “test”.
- Click “OK”.
- Under “Connect Using” select the COM port the device is plugged into. if you don’t know, click here: http://community.sellerdeck.com/showthread.php?t=52428
- Click “OK”.
- Under bits per second, select “9600”. This might not be the correct setting, but this is the first one to try. 19200 and 38400 are the next settings to try if this doesn’t work.
- Click “OK”.
- Now, in the big empty field type a message, for example “hello world”. This message should appear on the pole display,
