    Single license, multiple installations?

My client has bought a single user license. I have installed and developed the site for him but he now wishes to install a local copy to retrieve and process orders (not to update the site). Is this possible and will it effect any synching issues?

Providing you stick with one PC downloading and one uploading you shouldn't see any problems.

Remember though if your client takes offline orders (MOTO) then he will need to have the latest snapshot on a regular basis.

When he does import a snapshot make sure he's backed up first and doesn't overwrite the orders on his computer.

All he needs to do is issue you with a snapshot when he wants the site ammended, new products etc if thats what you are doing, he can then run the site in full, upload, download make snapshots etc on his own and just give you a snapshot to use when he needs your help

Great, many thanks. Just to clarify, if he is not making any changes to the site, just retrieving orders, is there a need for him to send me a Snapshot every time?

With two people working on a site, it's very easy to get mistakes, items deleted or over written etc without fine control, For instance what happens if he see's a spelling mistake or wants to cancel a product that is out of stock on Friday that's not due back in stock for three months and you are not available. Does he use stock control etc.

At least with a up to date snapshot you both stand the best chance of making the team work well

He gets one back from you to import into his without updating orders and upload to server, both are happy

Why don't you set things up his end and dial in to do any work, it sounds to me like you are complicating things unnecessarily. Finish the site, give it to him and dial in to do anything you have to along the way.
