    More barcode scanning issues

    Had to generate a barcode (in this case: CARD0221) - it scans perfectly, but automatically attributes the sale to a particular customer (as though we had looked up the customer first). I have checked and doublechecked and I can see no link between the two. This is the 2nd occasion on which this has happened. Help would be much appreciated.

    Hi,

    This is because 'CA' is used for 'Customer Accounts' so you should not create barcodes or product codes starting with these characters.

        Hi Nick,

        I'm sorry but it doesn't seem to be documented anywhere. This should be the only prefix to what for. It is used so that the customer Account cards which can be printed from the customer form have a barcode printed on them, which is the customer's barcode prefixed with 'CA'. This is so that the customer's card can be scanned at the till and this will look up that customer and assign the sale to them, rather than the user having to manually do a lookup on the customer, which would take much longer.

        I will ask development to document this, either in the help files or in a manual.
