    One Barcode, Three Sizes

It's common practice for alot of our products to come in say Three different sizes but with the same manufacturer's barcode.

Is there a way to have Actinic EPOS ask for product size when a certain barcode is scanned? And also have the facility to monitor stock of different sizes but one barcode?

I appreciate I could make a set of new barcodes for each size, but this is really neither practical or cost effective.

I can only come up with work arounds.

If you don't need to monitor stock levels for individual sizes you could just set the price at 0 and put a tick in the box that says 'collect price when scanned' (only useful if they are different prices though)

If you did need to monitor stock you could set up a dummy product with no value, untick the 'include this prod in reports', attach your barcode to it and then set up the actual products with their individual sizes as linked products (details tab on product) - this will mean that when the barcode is scanned you'll be able to click on the relevant size.

However - this will add the dummy prod to the receipt, and i'm not sure whether you can sell something at £0.00.

Maybe i've not helped after all - thought i'd post anyway as it might lead us to the solution.

Nick - Thanks for the ideas.

We need to monitor stock, so the second option would be ideal but we can't have £0.00 shown on the receipt.

      Hoping there's another way..........

          No luck i'm afraid.

No solution presented from Actinic either.

Would still very much like to get this option.

            Hi,
That's a pity as I'd say it's an issue for lots of shops selling items like clothing. Maybe someone from actinic might be reading this post and can tell us if they have had this request before?
