    Hardware with Epos

Anyone succesfully implemented an alternative to the Epson T88 thermal printer to work with the EPOS?

I've managed to get hold of a Citizen CBM1000II for less than a 1/4 of the price of the epson unit. I've tested it and works fine, tested with cash drawer connected and that also works fine, but can't get it to work through the Epson OPOS software. The manual is obvoiusly tailored to only look at the one particular unit, and for alternatives just mention in a one line statement that the LDN of any other unit should be set to unit1. I have done this, but still to no avail.

Its a serial unit so no USB/virtual port issues either.

    Thoughts?

I am using IBM standalone terminals with all the associated IBM peripherals. All works fine for 99.9% of the time but we do get the occasional random 'lock up' when printing a receipt. Had to download the IBM opos drivers to make it all work, before doing that the Epos shipped OPOS driver couldn't 'see' the hardware.
Have you installed the printer driver as well? found this don't know if its any use?- http://www.goodson.com.au/support/download_citizen.htm

Hi, found a solution to the problem.
Problem is that when I installed the printer, i installed it to the com port (as you would expect to), however if you go into the device settings and set to print to file it then works perfectly from Actinic. One assumes that by printing to file, this triggers the Epson Opos software into printing. Activates the drawer also, so all good, and still have the laser printer for printing out the bigger invoices which all works. Still had to set the receipt print to "unit1" within the Epson OPOS software.
