Don't know if this is possible?

    HI,
We are setting up epos and and actinic v8.5 for a web shop and in store till. The client wants to have a computer in the shop with the web site on it but showing shop prices! The prices on the web will be cheaper than the shop so he wants people to browse the site in the shop too but not see the web prices.
    Has anyone done this successfully?
    Regards

I haven't done it myself but I would think you could do it using a shop login for the web site and have customer specific pricing. Might need to have a user defined variable containing shop price and display that variable if the shop is logged in.

    Q. So what happens when customers browse the web site when they're in the shop, see the shop prices, buy something, go home, browse the web site and see cheaper prices. I guess they'll be mighty p*ss'd off?? I know I would be.

      HI Goz,
That sounds like a good idea. I'll try it.
Yes I'm not sure if it is normal practice to have more expensive prices in the shop than online, I think his rational is that there are more overheads in the shop to pay for.

He's right - it's one of the classic on-line vs B&M shop debates.

I think he's asking for trouble. Perhaps he should be more open about the pricing and show both on the "shop" login. But also explain that if they were to choose to order over the web, the goods would be posted, there would be postage to pay and there would be a delay of a day or two before the customer gets the goods. Whereas, if they buy now... they can take the goods home with them.

Its pretty normal to have different pricing IME and if someone notices you just give them at web prices. It is market dependent though as people buying certain things from a shop are a right royal pain in the ass, whereas online you never hear a peep off them, so need to allow for it.

You can always say that delivery charges force web prices to be cheaper, so it ends up about the same in the end or words to that effect. You can always say sod off home, stop wasting my time in the shop and go buy it online.

I am still looking at the 2 prices for web/shop. I see that I can set "Maintain Base Price in Actinic Epos" in the configuration settings, and I can set this in the drop down menu to "OnlinePrice". When I go into the EPOS till can I set a price in there for price in shop (default for the till) and then an online price?

Anyone know if that would control 1 set of prices for the web and another for the till?
            thanks,

Paul in support came back to me with this solution so hope it help someone else with the same question:
In order to have a different price for products on the website compared to the EPOS system you would take the following steps below. Currently the customer group pricing does not work, this is a known bug in the Actinic v8 software which our development team are hoping to have solved in either release 8.5.3 or Actinic v9. When this bug is fixed in a future release you will be able to use the steps below to get a different price in the EPOS system compared to the website:

              1) Create a new customer group called “EPOS” for example. (Marketing | Customer Groups)

              2) You can then set the prices you want to have in the EPOS system under the “Prices” tab of each product.

              3) Go to “Actinic EPOS Link” drop down list | “Transfer product data to Actinic EPOS”

              4) On the “Prices” tab click the drop down list for “Region1” (This is the price that will be used in the EPOS system), select “EPOS” from the drop down list.

              5) Click the drop down list for “OnlinePrice”, select “Retail” from the drop down list.

              6) Click “Apply”

              7) When you next transfer products from Actinic v8 to EPOS you will find the online price appears, but the “EPOS” price will be used when making sales on the EPOS system.
