My dad retired from the business about 7 years ago but still helps out if asked, anyway on Saturday afternoon he managed to "delete todays transactions" from the till at 4pm when I went to do the lottery!!

I knew nothing of this untill I did the Z at 5pm. Days take = £56!

Is there anyway to retrieve the missing transactions / turnover? because as it stands it is lost forever...wonder if it will stand up with the inland rev?!!

Can you recall any transactions? If you know the trans number on the first sale after it was deleted, you could try and recall the transaction number before that. If it finds something you could systematically recall the rest of the days receipts.

Its a pure guess.

Re the IR - as long as you know how much money you took I don't think they'll be interested in what you sold!

Cant remember if it was raining Saturday let alone what the takings were, sure I have an idea based on the float and what I counted at the end of the day, but all the other data that would go into reports and stock levels /sales bla bla are lost.

I appreciate that it is quite a feat to do what my dad did, plenty of warnings, but the old fella has never really grasped it!

Not to worry, just wondered, thgought there might be a restore type function

Hi Mark - sorry if i'm stating the obvious, but when I say 'recall a transaction', I do mean from the sales menu, not from memory!

Hi Mark,

It does sound like they are gone but just in case, if you are able to, you could try looking in the database for the transactions. Take a look in the 'Data.mdb file | tblTransactions' table to see if there are any in there for the particular date that the orders were "deleted" on. After a z-read they should be moved to the 'Transactions.mdb' database so you could also try looking in there to see if they've been put in there but are not showing up for some reason.
