Problems with stocktake - i really need some help!

I am trying to do a stocktake for the first time.

I have attempted to print off a complete stocklist from the products by category. I initally instlled the products by importing them from the website. These imported products show the categories they were defined by on the website. However these categories were not generated within the categories set up, so it seems they do not really exist. When i print a product list the items from the website do not appear at all.

I have tried inserting duplicate categories in the system setup to match the ones on the website but this does not seem to work either.

Also I often get the same product supplied by different suppliers so have not highlighted a prefered supplier, these products are not appearing on the list either.

Any ideas what I can do? Do i have to go through each product and change all the categories ? (10,000 items!)

If you want to print by category, there has to be category info. I would have thought you would be better off adding a prefered supplier to each item and printing by supplier. That should make it much easier to produce a purchase order for the supplier.

      Thanks - another query

      Thanks Bill,
I have gone through everything and added suppliers, however in doing so I found some products on there that we never stock so attempted to delete them all in one go within the view window, they appeared to delete, but remained in the products screen. I went back to the view screen and did a search for them and there they were, so I deleted the again, following up with a search that filed to find them - but lo and behold when I went back to the products screen they were all still sitting there! How can i get rid of them without deleting them individually and why are they not now showing when I do a find search in the View Screen?

Its very confusing I have occ. used the view screen to change multiple prices and that has worked well immediately so I can't understand this

        Hi Sally,

ok can you go and delete those files again for me then go to the setup menu at the top of the main epos screen and select system maintenance and switch to the misc tab then click on purge all deletions.

when you have done this can you try searching for the deleted products again to see if they are still there

        regards
