Credit Notes

I have stumbled across yet another problem with Epos. I can issue a Credit Note but then seem unable to take them in payment.
Should I process them as a voucher when a customer wants to use a Credit Note for part payment. If I press credit note to redeem them the money is effectively registered as cash which makes no sense!
PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!

Same problem - customer returns an item to the shop but buys other stuff. Enter sale for other stuff - go to PAY - deduct the amount of the return by clicking the voucher option (cos there's nothing else to click) - this correctly deducts the amount from the sale - customer pays balance.

Book returned stock back in. Do end of day - voucher shown for correct amount but it ADDS it to the total days sale rather than deducting the amount.

Same thing with gift certificates - customer bought on-line - recipient brings to store - buys goodies - pays with gift certificate/voucher. Works as expected on the till side of things, but the end of day treats the gift certificate/voucher PAYMENT as a SALE.

Not good - lots of messy handwriting on end of day print out - till takings will never be correct!

Credit Notes - We have a product called 'CREDIT NOTE' with no value, if someone returns an item we refund the item and sell them a credit note. When they use the credit note we scan the item and refund the credit note. Its not perfect but it seems to work.

Thanks for that information - will try it out. This would seem to take care of the issue of customers returning items and using the refund option to create a negative amount.

Will try the same thing setting up a non-product for gift certificate and disable the voucher button and see how that pans out.

Trouble is staff using the till will naturally want to click the "voucher" payment option if a customer presents a gift certificate so it's shame this doesn't work correctly by creating a negative amount.

Another one for the wish list or am I completely missing the bleeding obvious somewhere?

Credit notes

I have yet to try your solution but its very annoying having to come up with little tricks to solve problems such as these. If you can issue a credit note it should (yes I know) allow you to redeem it in the same way. It just means we have lots of refunds and voids at the end of the day and at times it is difficult to keep track of what you have done when trying to correct the till.
