Stock taking

Hi, about to do my end of year stock take again and dont want to do a long winded version as I had to last year. Can anyone explain clearly how to do a stiock take start to finish as THE MANUAL IS RUBBISH!

Post 6 on that thread is quite useful - but I agree, the manual leaves a lot to be desired. Im doing my stocktake now - can feel lots of phonecalls to support coming on!

FWIW - I run a C-store and carry about 2000 products, all barcoded of course. I bought a piccolink factory refurb on the 'net - absolutely brilliant, best money I've ever spent. Stocktaking is a breeze and I also use it for goods in and ordering. One of the things that I love is that it gives you current stock level in real time when ordering, so you can correct any discrepancies straight away. May not suit everyones situation, but I couldn't live without it now.
