    tm-t88iiip setup

we are trialing epos at present and are trying to set it up using the tm-t88iiip.

When I bought the tm-t88iip I do not relise that the p is the parallel version not the serial which is the default one in actinic. so I am having probs getting it to work

I have gone into opos and deleted the t88iii and changed it to the tm-t88iiip and created a new logic device called unit 1.

when I do the communications test it does not work. Can test print through windows ok

    firmware is 7.0x

I then have a standard cash draw through the printer but that does not work either.

Could not find an idiots guide to setting up the hardware on actinic site so would appreciate a little help to point me in the right direction

    thanks

    Hi David,

If you have installed it using a windows driver as well as using the opos driver then it will conflict and not work. Please try uninstalling the windows TM-T88iiip driver and try again to do an opos check health.

Please let me know how you get on.

    Thanks,

    Andy

        Please check the following.

        1. Go to Setup.
        2. Till Setup.
        3. Printing.

Within printing check that ‘Epson Opos Available’ is ticked and that ‘Printing On’ is also ticked.

Please let me know if that now prints.

        Thanks

tried that and it still does not work.

did notice that the save and recall options are grayed out.

can you print recipts and open the cash draw in the trial version ?

I would ideally like to know that the software will function with my hardware before spending x on the full product

          thanks

            Hi David,

Yes you ought to be able to still print a receipt and open the cash drawer in the trial version.

Please tell me what you are connecting the parallel printer cable into, is it a PCI card with a parallel interface and are you using Windows Vista? What kind of terminal are you using, is it a PC or a Touch Screen Till?

            Thanks,

            Andy.

                Hi,

What com port do you have it set to? Have you tried changing the LPT1 com port to LPT2 or LPT3. If you go into Control Panel\system\device Settings\LPT and Com port Settings\ LPT port properties\ does it say in the box that 'This device is working properly'?

When you installed opos, did you say ‘no’ to the message 'Do you Use Parallel I/F as this message always needs to be answered no.

You may want to try uninstalling opos through Windows 'add and remove programs' and giving it a reinstall just to be sure there are no conflictions from previous changes.

                Thanks

after removing all the software and doing a reinstall I got the printer to work, but the cash draw still does not work.

all configuration options seem to be releated to a serial connection but my printer is parallel

The Cash Drawer ought to still open ok even if you are using a parallel printer. Within Epos, if you go to Setup\Till Setup is ‘Use Serial Cash Drawer’ unticked?

Within Opos SertupPOS under cash drawer does it say standard? Do you have unit1 set as the LDN for the cash drawer? Also the 'Select Detailed Model' needs to be Standard P from the drop down box.

I have found the solution as to why the TM-T88IIIp not work easily on Actinic EPOS system. The problem is due to a DMA conflict in DEVICE MANAGER - PORTS - LPT - AUTO SETTING CONFIGURATION, If the DMA is set to 00, Windows finds the Epson printer on LPT port by its Plug & Play configuration.

Do not use the plug & Play config. Instead use the OPOS and install new TM-T88111 printer using the "P" at the end - do a Health check and it should be OK.

ADVICE : Carry out the above function only if you are IT Xprt - else note down each and every settings you are doing - so you can reverse the same if it causes problem.
