    Database error code

I have emailed suport, but in the meantime have had to close the shop! So if anyone can assist with below I would be gratefull.

Started up the EPOS after lunch and it presented me with an error message

Microsft Access - 3021 no current record

    followed by

    Error initalising Global Variables

I get rid of them, try to log on, but it say that none of our log on details exist in the database, so cant do anything except shut it down.

I looked in the forum and there was a similar problem but with code 3020 I tried to reinstall the OPOS but it made no difference even though it told me it had installed.

    Any ideas?

Did you add or delete any products/users or other records on the database before encountering this error?

normally caused by a field in the database gone wrong..i.e too many characters, a damaged index on one of the tables, or the addition of a field(unlikely in the case of EPOS).

I would suggest a backup, then open with Access and do a compact/repair...see if that works.

I am not aware of adding or deleting anything. All I did this morning in prep for the VAT reduction was to see if I could change the VAT rate and keep the prices the same. I literally altered it, checked it was working and then returned it to 17.5% mode......turned it all off, went to an appointment, came back, switched it on and problem.

We have two Super user login and the default one, but none of them are accepted so cant access the program to do anything at all.

might be worth opening your data.mdb in microsoft access, and checking the tblsalestaxcode table. Make sure that standard vat field just has 17.5 written in in without any spacing or percentage signs

We now have our till back.

Cant tell you what the problem was. Epos support fixed the error using a broadband connection, copying my files, loading them up at Actinic towers to duplicate the problem them sending it back fixed.

I really must thank Andy Downes who over saw the entire process which took several hours.

memo to self....back it up properly more than three times a year!
