EPOS and V10 Real Time Stock Control

    Hi Folks

I'm hoping that no news is good news as I haven't found much information about using V10's real time stock control when you're also using Actinic EPOS.

We're on the cusp of upgrading to V10, and after 3 years of turbulence we've finally got EPOS and Actinic chugging along nicely together so don't want to upset the applecart.

Does anybody have any experience - good or bad. If there's any "absolutely do not/make sure you do this or the sky will fall on your head" tips that would be helpful.

    Cheers all - Helen

EPOS and v10 real time stock are designed to work together and have been extensively tested by Actinic.

Maybe it's worth a chat with Actinic support before you upgrade - just make sure that you're talking to one of the EPOS specialists.

      Hi Chris

Appreciate your comments, but as with all these things the user's experience can be somewhat different to what it says it does on the tin (I have many EPOS scars ).

There isn't anything I can find on the forum specifically pointing towards problems with EPOS and real time stock control (which I'm assuming is good news), but I felt it worth asking the people who might be using this in their day to day business how their experience has been before we take the leap.

      Regards - Helen

I used V10 and EPOS during the Beta testing of V10 and had no problems once I had the correct link software, needs to be the latest version.

It was a limited test using the standard V10 site specifically looking at the operation of the stock control. I had no problems with updating stock from EPOS sales or from Web Site sales

I am having some major issues at the moment with this setup, although to be fair to Actinic I haven't reported them as I am trying to narrow them down to a reportable problem.

The most inconvenient, which may just be a symptom of a layout problem is the following:
With a new SPP layout and stock in EPOS enabled I get a duplicate (2 identical) product(s) on every single product page, if I disable stock in EPOS, repair database, then upload to web the problem is not apparent.

I am awaiting a new more substantial router/switch to eliminate that as a cause of frequent lock-ups when synchronising stock with EPOS.

It is fantastic when it works well, but infuriating when it doesn't work as expected.

Thanks all for the replies - it would seem that we're not headed for any major problems then. On the plus side, we're not using EPOS for shop sales any more so this should simplify things.

It is fantastic when it works well, but infuriating when it doesn't work as expected.

Steve, I feel your pain - we've usually fallen into the latter camp on all things Actinic related so we've got everything crossed that this upgrade will bring some long overdue relief from a multitude of irritants. As you say, if it works as expected it'll be brilliant, but past experience dictates that we hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

              Thanks again everyone - Helen
