Stock shift - products sold in qty - profit incorrectly calculated

My customer has highlighted a bug:- EPOS v 3.14 NIXA

When a product is built in as a box quantity and a second barcode is added to sell singles the stock control works properly, but the profit figure shown in the Product sales by date report shows the cost price of the box as the price for a single and calculates the profit on that basis, massively exaggerating the profit figure. eg:-

Box of 10 dog chews - costs £10 - singles sold at £2 - cost £1 each - £1 profit (less tax) - calculated correctly - box sold for £18 - 10 taken from stock (correct) however cost price is shown as £1 for all 10 (should be £10) therefore profit shows as £17 less tax - incorrect.

I have checked and the product is built in as per your help file instructions - box with a stock shift of 10 against its barcode (showing a cost price of £1 each - correct) and singles shown as a stock shift of 1 against a second bar code.

This has led to a discrepancy of over reported profit of over £20k for the business this year - we need a fix.

SellerDeck are still supporting existing EPOS users but the SellerDeck EPOS is no longer being developed, you should contact SellerDeck directly to clarify if they are able to provide a fix.

    Read this: http://www.sellerdeck.co.uk/index.ph.../category/faqs

"Does SellerDeck still sell EPOS software?
We no longer sell EPOS software to new customers, but we still support our SellerDeck EPOS users.

How do I receive support for my EPOS software?
Anyone with a SellerDeck EPOS support contract will be able to access our support service and we’ll work hard to resolve any issues you might have.

Will there be any future upgrades or developments of the EPOS software?
No. There will be no further upgrades or developments in the SellerDeck EPOS software.

To my mind this is not so much a support issue as a "fit for purpose" issue. We are not talking about hardware inflicted corruption or customer misuse. we are seeing that the base software does not do the job it is intended to do. I cannot see why you would need to pay a support contract for that issue.

If I bought a car and after a while I found that one of the gears didn't work and had never worked as it was designed incorrectly I would expect a refund or a fix.

I guess Sellerdeck aren't interested though.

        Pricing

I might have read this wrongly. but it looks like the way the product has been created.

This is a "EPOS" promotion price is £18 for 10 and this is set up again the single items.

You cannot sell like this with a price over-ride to change a single to £18, hence you have the margin problem

The 10 taken from stock? not sure I follow where these have come from

Barcodes, two barcodes against an item is meant to be where you are adding in an alterntive barcode for the SAME item, not a different deal.

        Solution as I read it.

Set up a promotion against a single chew, buy 10 save 10% or £2 off. This will correct the margin problem.

        Or messier, but works

Create a new product called i.e Dog Chews x 10. add a new barcode and make the cost price £10 and the Selling price £18. Problem solved, but you will need to watch your negative stocks as you will go minus when you sell these packs.

        Hope that helps.
