    Site import issues

I am having issues with v12 (2013) adversely affecting v11 site layouts on import.

I first tried importing a heavily customised client site.

    I got this warning:

I viewed the file and serached for 'Failed' and there were very many instances. The document is 669 pages long but you can download it and read it if you wish:
    http://www.graphicz.eu.com/Failed-to-find.doc

Also some of the layouts in the newly imported site were broken by the import.

I next tried importing my test-bed site originally based on the silver layout and now happily residing in v11.

I got the same warning and the same lengthy document of warnings and countless failed replacements.

Again some of the layouts in the site were broken by the import.

I then created an 'out of the box' v11 site and changed the design to minimal and did nothing else to it. Surely this would import OK???

No! I got the same warning and the same lengthy document of warnings and countless failed replacements.

Surely this is a bit of an issue if we cannot even import generic v11 sites without the layout breaking and giving all these warnings?

Hopefully this is what Betas are for and it will be fixed before production.

    Thank you.

I've run a few stock sites through the beta ok. Have you tried cleaning out v12 and reinstalling?

After uninstalling remove the directories and registry entries (carefully!!!!) and then reinstall.

How does one remove registry entries? Seems a bit of an elaborate fix for something out of the box!

Clean install of SellerDeck_V1200MKZA_UK.exe into a different completely separate W7 laptop.

Import of my test bed site gave exactly the same problems as above.

              It's a beta version anything's possible.
Best not to touch the registry if you're not sure what you're doing.

              Did you try reinstalling though?

Best to raise the issue in the get satisfaction support forum site. (mentioned in the beta announcement thread)

i have posted a new thread with regards import problems and experienced errors although not quite the same it would be nice to just pull out the info in a clean format rather than snapshots that protest when heavy customisation has been done.

Im not saying the import should be able to cater for every eventuality just the option to pull out the important information with no design

oh and hi Duncan long time no see

                        Hi Darren

I thought that the export function just did a clean export of the data or am I wrong again as never had to use it myself
