Filter Sort by Promotion

I'm wanting to create a filtered section that is based on pulling any product site wide that has some kind of discount applied to it.

With section filtering is there an option to simply define a filter that generates a section with any product that has a promotion applied to it?

I realise I could create my own variable with a value of TRUE / FALSE as to whether a promo is applied to it, but that mean going through vast products to enable it (and CSV iMport not ideal answer every time either)

I'm hoping there's a simple settings for this? I cant see one so far
