    Brand filtering

I am having issues with the filter I am setting up on our new site. All our products have brands and it is important that our customers can filter sections by brand. For our "Skis" page I have set up a filter so brand can be selected, we do around 7 different brands of skis. Instead of just those 7 showing as filtering options showing for the Skis page, every brand from every section is showing as a selectable option. I have made sure the section is only looking at "This Section" under the filtering properties. Support didn't have any answers so any help would be appreciated! Thanks Ben

    Hi Ben,

Could you check that under the "Filtering" details for the specific section that you have "This Section" selected within the section drop down list under filter these products please?

If you already have this selected please can you send me a snapshot of your site as it now please to the following link. I will then have a look a look at it here for you. We will get to the bottom if this for you.

I'm guessing that you have choice counts turned on, and that you end up with a lot of choices which have a count of zero. Only those 7 brands actually available on the page show with a a non-zero count.

There is an option to hide choices with a count of zero (in Search and Filtering settings) which you could use for the moment. This isn't ideal because choices are hidden and reappear as other filter options are chosen. But if brands are your only filter option it will look OK.

This is handled much better in the maintenance release, due out in beta very soon now. In this version, on first opening the page, choices with a count of zero are permanently hidden. This is exactly what you need.
