    Filtering All Brands

Has anybody had success with setting up a section which enables filtering by Brands, with a selection list in the left side bar for customers to choose the brand (drop-down list as very long), which then shows all the products with that brand, with or without the option to further choose type of product?

I have been working on this for a few weeks, and have posted on here about it and contacted Sellerdeck support, uploaded a snapshot a week ago, but no solution.

I had successfully set of a section for just one brand by filter, and can also choose type of product, and this works fine, but I would like a Brands section with filtering.

I am beginning to think it isn't possible.

It would be best to keep to the same topic so information is in one place. If the options have been set and you are still not seeing the products there is one of two things, you have not set up the options correctly, or you have a bug in the software that needs looking at by SellerDeck Support.

      Sorry to raise new topic

I am sorry that I raised a new topic, though it was different in that I was trying to find out if anybody else had done it successfully, which would tell me that it was possible. My previous topic seemed to have run out of steam. I submitted my snapshot to support a week ago, but they have not had any success.

My newly designed website is now live - www.avidlite.co.uk. The Atkins section, filling with a filter, is working fine. However, I want a Brands section (have had to hide this section as does not find products). I set this up in a similar way to the Atkins section, but with choices in the variable rather than text, with a long list of brands as the choices, and have entered the brand names in the Properties of each product, selecting from this list of brand choices alongside the appropriate line in Properties. On the website, the drop-down list of brands to choose from appears in the left sidebar (correct), but no products are found for any of the brands. I have also been able to do it so that only the brand at the top of the list appears online (incorrect) but it does not find the products - it seems that I can't get it both ways, the brands and the products.

Reading the instructions supplied by Sellerdeck with the software and in Knowledge Base, it would suggest that each brand has to be entered as a sub-section, and then the filter applied to the sub-sections, which would work, as Atkins works, but would involve creating a hugh list of sub-sections and a lot of variables for each brand. I posted this suggestion, and you (Louise) said that it could be done without the sub-sections.

How to create a section which shows all brand products on the website and filter them

Yes it can. You can set up your filter and enter properties against products. Create a new section and in the Filtering tab set "Make filtering the default view" and "All Sections". If you have multiple filters the software seems to show one filter and uses the filter which is at the top of the list so you could make sure it is first.

Partially sorted Brands section . .

Thank you very much Louise. I have taken note of two particular things from your reply: the order of the filters in the Settings, and the "Property and Value entered" in the section filtering tab. I tried the latter first, though I had all the Brands appearing in the drop down list already, by deleting the row under Property and Value in the section, the Brands section magically found the products. I had previously thought that you had to complete the Property and Value. However, the secondary filter, By Type, I have had to remove, as on the website it was forcing the selection of type, not finding any products until type selected, which is undesirable. I had this set as optional, so not sure why that is not optional. I shall look into it when I have more time. The other problem, which I think others have reported as a bug, is that Any appears for one second at the top of the list and then disappears. But I am content for now that I have a Brands section which appears to be useable. Thanks again.
