    Stock filter

Now we have filtering built in, I am wondering how easy it would be to develop a way to toggle between items that are in stock and out of stock. For example, we run a very seasonal business and at times have nearly all items ready to send and at other times perhaps only a 5th. It can be very annoying for customers to scroll though lots of out of stock items (especially when filtered results don't show the add to cart button .... or can they??.) Therefore, this below would be ideal:

    1. Customer visits our site
    2. they are shown all the products we actually sell (whether they are available or not)
    3. customer can filter down options to find the particular range they would like
    Then.....
    4. filter the final results to items that are actually available to buy now.

or, even have a section that has one filter to toggle between all items and just those in stock.

I am yet to launch our new 2013 site and is still at the pre-filtering stage of dev so, now would be the time to do something if it is indeed possible.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers!

Filtered results with add to cart was discussed here: Search and Filtering results with Add to Cart. You could look at Show "out of stock" in search results or Add to cart from search results. Alternatively create a custom variable for stock and use it for filtering.

Yes I do remember discussing the add to cart button issue before but just though I would mention it again

Thanks for the links. To be honest, I have read those threads ages ago and I didn't put 2 and 2 together and try it out for 2013. Will have a look.

I also like the idea of having a single stock variable too - this sounds simple to implement and as I only have 2-300 products, it shouldn't be that tricky to change each week. As a matter of interest I am always reading about exporting and importing data into Sellerdeck...can the stock control and indeed variable 'choices' be changed in a spreadsheet (excel?) and then imported back in - I think this may be an easier way of updating the stock each week. Hold on.. perhaps I should just read up and try...

      Thanks again!

        Update

a few minutes later and I see that i can do it via an export/import but perhaps just easier to do it from within seller deck for the time being as spreadsheets give me a headache.
