Strange error message when deleting old orders

When I delete old orders on the Orders tab I get the error message, "A database error occurred while loading the mails: data truncated", but it still seems to delete the orders OK. It is an odd error message as deleting an order has nothing to do with loading mails. Any idea why I get this message, or whether it matters?

The data truncated message relates to the amount of text in a field, there is an old topic about it here: Cant send emails - Data truncated ??

Not sending emails

I had read that post before posting. However, I am not sending any emails or doing anything related to emails. I am just trying to delete some 2-year-old orders. The emails related to those orders at the time 2 years ago did not get the data truncated error message, just now when trying to delete the order.
