They may not be best pleased as they are actively promoting their paid for responsive theme at the moment.

Personally, I don't see what the problem would be.
The user community on this forum contributes hugely to the success of sellerdeck and must save them a small fortune in support requests.
If a member contributes something useful to the rest of the community I can't see why they think it would be right to object.
In any case, what we're talking about would probably only be of actual use to the small minority of sellerdeck users who have a decent level of HTML knowledge so sellerdeck would probably benefit from the increased discussion of the topic anyway.

Hi Steven,
Thanks for getting back to me.
If you come to SellerDeck as a brand new customer starting a brand new website the responsive design is free. However, making your current website mobile responsive is not easy and it is not possible to migrate your website into another platform with the mobile responsive aspects for free.
The service which we offer is an implementation service whereby we make sure you were in Version 12, fixing any issues which occur during the upgrade, test and configure the additional features available, implement a responsive design so that customer who browse the site using IPad’s and iPhones etc. can navigate and easily purchase from your website. Then when everything has been implemented and all of the Quality Assurance testing is complete we give you the site back to have a look through and come back with feedback and then we get the site finished off for you, then deploy the site on your machine, updating orders, making sure you are ready to move forward with the new site and design.
We are currently looking at around 3 weeks lead time for sites to be completed.
The price can only be based upon previous experience. We haven’t done a mobile responsive upgrade for less than £1,250 or for more than £3,000. I would suggest that the price would be between these two figures.
Feel free to contact me on 01932 358345 if you would like a quote for upgrading.
Regards,
Jamie Harper

Jamie,
It is certainly something I have been looking at closely.
However, will Sellerdeck be behind the times and try to charge us for something that comes as standard with other online ecommerce software?
Silly question. How much?
Regards,
Steven

Is the suggestion that other companies offering Ecommerce (presumably cloud based) applications will convert a client's existing website to responsive for free?
I can't say I have come across that!Jonathan Chappell

free but how?
How can Sellerdeck offer it free to new customers? will they be using different software?
Also a new business license is £899 (catalog much cheaper) for which you will get responsive design thrown in. So why start charging old customers a minimum of £1250???
Shouldn't responsive design be offered in a future update?

I think SellerDeck are referring to a raw (what you get is what you get) responsive theme with the product as a new customer. Converting an existing design to responsive can be very difficult and is what is costing the money.
I would also like to see a responsive theme included in the base product, even if it can't be adapated much.
