I think the shear amount of combos is the issue with permutations, but I like the idea Bill, a good solution to one with limited options. I think the main issue is 3 options, the combinations is just monumental then, soon at eye watering quantities.

Just 10 options on each of the 3 options, which in fishing is very conservative, would result in 1,000 combinations I believe. 20 options on each would give an eye watering 8,000 lol. OMFG!

Yes, I just tested it, it works (I had a feeling you would have to 'fix' the price!) - but you can use 'Sum of components...' on the parent and it works just as you would expect...

See the attached image for the outline structure. Remember to use 'Associated Product Price' in the 'Permutations'...

The beauty of this solution is that Sellerdeck refreshes the price as you change selections! Nice one SD!

        Hi Lee,

Yes, we had 2-combos in our [now deleted] product - each with about 250 choices.

Very tedious to set up in SD but we wrote a query in MS-Access to create the Choices to save time...

At the time (2006) a 500kb CAT file was too much of a download (just to browse the page) but these days it's only a few milliseconds to download...

You are a freak of nature though Bill and the only person I know more happy in the database than in the software itself

            Hi Lee,

The 'volume of combinations' is not really an issue here... The 'combinations' only really affect the Picking/Packing staff.

The CAT file doesn't store every *combination* - it stores one of each product choice for each combo.

So, if there are 10 Rods, 5, Reels and 5 Fly Lines there are only 20 products in the CAT file...

Are you talking on non-price changing combos though? If he has 10 options on each of 3 options, he has 1,000 prices to insert? In fishing terms, just 10 options would be considered a closing down sale.

If you select 'Associated Product Price' in the Permutations then no prices need to be entered at all... Pricing will be dynamically updated if/when you adjust the Master Product price...

Of course, i'm thinking he has specific prices on each combo, whereas the products are already setup and it is a global discount.

Yep - it's a 'beaut' of a solution... Now, can I find an excuse to use it myself...
